Lisaa, an emerging voice in Rwanda’s music scene, has once again expressed her deep admiration for iconic singer Butera Knowless—whom she credits as her biggest musical inspiration—and is pleading for a one-on-one meeting to seek guidance in her budding career.
Speaking to IGIHE during the promotion of her latest single Tonight, Lisaa didn’t hold back her reverence for Knowless. “The reason I fell in love with music is because of Butera Knowless,” she said. “Her journey, from where she started to where she is now, is truly inspiring. What I admire most is her discipline, humility, and relentless work ethic. These are qualities I’ve tried to learn from.”
Although she’s only been in the industry for nine months, Lisaa has released four songs. She believes that a personal conversation with Knowless could offer invaluable mentorship. “I haven’t met her yet, but it’s a dream I constantly pray for,” she said. “If we do meet, I’d thank her for setting such a great example and for making music that made me want to become an artist myself.”
One song that particularly impacted her was Nzaba Mpari, a Knowless hit that Lisaa says sparked her passion for music and helped shape her artistic path.
Currently, Lisaa is reportedly in talks with Incredible Records, the label behind singer Davis D and owned by Bernard Bagenzi. While a formal signing has yet to take place, Lisaa confirmed the two parties are making significant progress. Together, they’ve already collaborated on two songs, including her latest track Tonight.
Beyond music, Lisaa holds a degree in Psychology from Mount Kenya University in Nairobi, where she recently completed her studies.
Despite her brief time in the spotlight, Lisaa is steadily building her catalog with songs like Forever, Mon Bébé, and now Tonight. As she continues her journey, she holds tight to the dream of finally sitting down with Butera Knowless—the woman who inspired it all.
