Tanzanian music star Naseeb Abdul Juma, popularly known as Diamond Platnumz, has reflected on a life-changing moment when he discovered the truth about his biological father—after spending many years believing another man was his real dad.
Diamond revealed that he learned the truth with the help of his aunt, while growing up with his mother, Mama Dangote, and her husband, Mzee Abdul, who had always been introduced to him as his father.
Speaking to journalist Angela Yee on the Way Up show on August 6, 2025, Diamond explained that the lack of affection from his paternal grandmother (Mzee Abdul’s mother) raised questions that eventually led him to seek the truth about his origins.
“Whenever she visited, I never felt welcomed. I would try to get close to her, but I always sensed I wasn’t invited in. At the time, I thought it was just her way of being, but later I realized she probably knew I wasn’t her biological grandson,” Diamond shared.
He recounted how one day his aunt came to visit and struck up a conversation about his father. After a brief chat, she revealed in confidence that his real father was Salum Idi Nyange, warning him not to tell his mother.
A few days later, the aunt took him to the market where his father worked. Diamond vividly remembers their first hug—his father gave him some money and a bag of rice, a gesture that left a deep emotional mark.
“From that day, I started visiting him every day. I felt so happy to finally meet my real father, and we immediately connected,” he said.
Diamond explained that his parents had separated when he was still a baby, and his mother later married Mzee Abdul, leading him to believe for years that Abdul was his father.
When asked about his own children, Diamond admitted that he doesn’t know the exact number, noting that some people claim to be his children even though that may not be the case. He added that despite no longer being in romantic relationships with the mothers of his children, he maintains a good relationship with all of them.
