Rwandan Students Included Among Those to Access Gemini AI for Free

Google, the global technology company, has announced that Rwanda is among six African countries whose university students will get free access to its Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology known as Gemini AI for one year.

Other countries on the list include Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.

According to Google, this initiative aims to help young people in Africa gain knowledge and practical experience in technology—especially in artificial intelligence—so they can be more competitive in the future job market.

The company added that this move is part of its effort to expand the Google Gemini learning platform, which supports education. Students at universities who will use the Google AI Pro program—normally a paid service—will now be able to access it for free.

Through this program, students will get access to premium AI tools such as Gemini 2.5 Pro, a powerful system capable of solving complex problems, analyzing images, and assisting in writing assignments and reports.

They will also access Deep Research, which helps in creating comprehensive reports and performing in-depth analysis by extracting key information needed for academic or professional use.

Another tool, NotebookLM, allows users to organize ideas, summarize various documents, and even integrate audio and video explanations to better understand complex topics.

Students who wish to participate must register before December 9, 2025, to enjoy one year of free access to Google AI Pro.

To enhance learning using Gemini AI, Google has also introduced a new feature called Guided Learning. This innovative system is designed to provide personalized academic support, helping students solve complex problems in subjects such as mathematics, physics, and other disciplines.
